Alibis and Fake Claims

If we want to engage on the main board in any significant capacity, we need reasonably convincing fake claims.  If possible, a claim that uses your item would be ideal in the event of a snoop.  For me, I have the village census, and I almost have an idea of how I could use it.

I’ve got a Shoe Sizer and Shoestring, it’s a hard sell but I could claim to be an investigator? (Measure shoe sizes and all?) since this is a champions round i can say that I know a similar version was used before. But it’s rough cause A. I typically have a partner B. Can’t really prove it much C. If there’s really an investigator pair, they will for sure know I’m lying.

I would buy the shoe size thing, but I think the odds of having investigators here is fairly high. Have you considered tracker? We can wait a bit to see what people reveal on their own. As for me, I was thinking about using the census to conduct background checks on people, if that even makes sense.

Tracker is a good idea, and I don’t entirely know what you mean?

I could read their census information and discover if they were innocent or a witch. I don’t know if people would buy that as a role.

I could post my claim without mentioning the item, and then I could play it off if it actually comes up. Things don’t always have to make perfect sense.

I could say that my father got me the dog to protect me from the witches!

That sounds good. Would your role be like a Crusader then where you choose someone to protect and kill that person's visitors? Could be just the first visitor as well, but I forget how move priority works.

I have a child’s toy and a bottle of poison… not really sure how that can be used as an alibi off the top of my head… any suggestions???

I don’t think it’s really possible to explain away the poison, so unfortunately you may be done for if your items are revealed. On the bright side, this means you can make up an item and role with a bit more freedom than the rest of us. I think one possible option could be that you choose someone to watch over during the night and you see who visits them? It’s up to you.

Any ideas for my knife?

That’s a tough one. You could claim vigilante, but that’s an obvious risk. It might be another situation where we just hope no one sees your items.

There’s a role in other games where you get 3 alerts and when you go on alert you kill all of your visitors. That is a possible claim as well.

I have a measuring tool, which route should I go?

Perhaps an information role? Since your job is to build things, I think you could reasonably claim trapper too.

On the topic of information roles, because I am claiming one I plan to reveal my role early on. My first night’s results will be “at least one of x and y is good.” Does anyone want to claim a spot on that list?

I’ll claim a spot if it doesn’t make more sense to do anyone else!

Gonna be real, it’s been a long time since I’ve played. How does the trapper role work?

I think talking like, trapping someone’s room so no one goes in?

I am sure there are variations, but here is one I am familiar with:
You select a person and spend one night constructing a trap. If that person is visited at this point there will be no effect. After building, the first person to visit will receive a moderate case of death. Additionally, you can move the trap if it has not been sprung, but it takes one night to disassemble and another night to reassemble. One trap may be placed at a time.

Youngling, if you happen to survive this night, here’s a role description that may be of useful to you.
At night, you can choose to protect yourself only and kill all visitors. This move can only be used three times.
It is slightly at odds with what you said, but you can play it off as deliberately being vague because it’s a powerful role. Also, we had 13 town roles so it makes sense that some would be unusual.
